Disk and RAM sizing
The testnet chain is small. It started on Sep 24 2026 and at 75 seconds per block grows by about 1,150 blocks a day.
zecnerod follows Zebra and keeps the full chain. There is no pruning mode. Plan disk space for the whole chain plus growth.
Rough guidance for testnet
| Minimum | Comfortable | |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | 2 cores | 4 cores |
| RAM | 4 GB | 8 GB |
| Disk | 20 GB SSD | 50 GB SSD |
These numbers leave room to spare. Use an SSD; spinning disks make sync and state updates slow.
TODO
Measure current testnet chain size and node memory use and replace the table with measured figures. Add a Mainnet estimate before launch.
Mining on the same machine
If you also run the miner on the node host, add about 2.5 GB of RAM for the RandomX dataset and expect slower sync while mining.
