Install zecnerod
zecnerod is the Zecnero full node. It is built on Zebra, the Rust Zcash node, and checks every block and transaction itself.
Run a node if you:
- mine solo,
- operate a pool, exchange, explorer or other service,
- want your wallet to use your own copy of the chain.
Requirements
See Disk and RAM sizing. A small VPS or any desktop is enough for testnet today.
Install
Add the exact install steps for zecnerod: download file names on downloads.zecnero.org, supported platforms, and build-from-source steps from gitlab.com/zecnero (Rust toolchain version, build command, binary path). Do not publish this page without them.
Before running any downloaded binary, verify it. See Verifying downloads.
Configure
Zebra-based nodes read a TOML config file. The values that matter for Zecnero testnet:
| Setting | testnet value |
|---|---|
| P2P port | 18733 |
| RPC listen address | 127.0.0.1:18732 |
| Seed nodes | seed1.zecnero.org, seed2.zecnero.org |
Add the default config file path, the command that generates a default config, the config keys for network selection, RPC and seeds, and the data directory location.
Start and check sync
Add the start command and how to check sync progress (log line format or an RPC call such as getblockchaininfo, once the RPC method list is confirmed).
To run the node as a service, see the systemd unit example.
