Mining quick start
The installer sets up xmrig-zecnero and the zecnero-miner helper command. It takes a couple of minutes on most machines.
Mining currently runs on the public testnet. Testnet coins have no value. Mainnet has not launched.
Before you start
- A 64-bit CPU. RandomX works on any modern x86-64 processor.
- About 2.5 GB of free RAM for the fast mode RandomX dataset.
- A ZMR address to receive rewards. If you don’t have one yet, install the wallet first.
Linux or WSL
curl -fsSL https://downloads.zecnero.org/install-miner.sh | bash
Windows (PowerShell)
irm https://downloads.zecnero.org/install.ps1 | iex
See Windows for notes on antivirus warnings and native binaries.
Piping a script into a shell runs it straight away. To check it first, download it, read it, then run it:
curl -fsSLO https://downloads.zecnero.org/install-miner.sh
less install-miner.sh
bash install-miner.sh
Release files can be checked against the project signing key. See Verifying downloads.
Check that it’s running
zecnero-miner status
Follow the live output:
zecnero-miner logs
The full command list is on the zecnero-miner commands page.
What happens next
By default the miner connects to the project pool at stratum.zecnero.org:3333. Shares show up in the logs within a minute or two. Payouts follow the pool’s PPLNS schedule; see Pools vs solo.
If your hashrate looks low, read Performance tuning. If the miner won’t start, go to Troubleshooting.
Verify the installer’s default behaviour: whether it prompts for a payout address during install or expects zecnero-miner address afterwards, and whether it connects to the pool by default.
